Home School Music Curriculum
A sound home school music curriculum (excuse the pun) is an important part of your child s education. A music curriculum doesn t just mean learning how to play an instrument, reading music, performing, etc &it also includes the music that your child listens to.
Music is a potentially nurturing influence to the emotions but it s a potentially destructive influence too. For example, listening to the national anthem brings up a feeling of pride &listening to military/marching music brings up a feeling of courage and listening to angry music and lyrics will bring up a feeling of unease and aggression.
You can, and should, try this for yourself. Try listening, particularly, to some modern, angry, aggressive music &just turn the dial on your radio and you won t be long finding some. Listen for around fifteen minutes &don t mentally comment on it &just listen. Now, turn the music off and feel what effect the music has had on you. You ll find that you feel uneasy, uncomfortable, maybe even aggressive. The point is that your heart is affected by music &in a way that won t be obvious to you &and you don t want that for your child, do you? No, you want the best for your child. So, make sure your
home school music curriculum
includes only the best music for their heart &uplifting and inspiring!
It s great when your young son or daughter expresses an interest in learning to play a musical instrument. The principle described above is even more important when your child is learning an instrument ¬ only will they be listening but they ll be playing the music too. You ll need to guide them to play excellent music as well as listen to it. For excellent musical instruments click
