Educational toy for kid

5  7 years:
At 4 years the brain goes through a spurt of brain growth  getting ready for a new level of learning. Before this the child has been developing their main understanding of how the world works (click here for more on this).

At 5 years he/she is now ready for receiving solid discipline and can relate to rules in games and puzzles. They love to imitate adults &they pretend to be mommy and daddy, a nurse, a truck driver, etc. Their imagination is magnificent and needs to be nurtured with fairy tales, stories and toys.

This is critical  toys must not present everything to the child &there must be room for imagination. This is why your young child s exposure to television should be limited. T.V. presents everything &the story, the images, the colour, the place the story is set, etc.  there is nothing left for the child to imagine!

So, when choosing an educational toy for kid at this age simplicity is important. Old favourites like solid wooden toys are great as is any educational toy for kid which provides for imagination, imitation of adults and the further development of hand-eye co-ordination.

Again, children at this age are getting into games and puzzles .

7  11 years:
At this age the child goes through what child psychologist Jean Piaget called the concrete operational stage of development. The child now begins to operate on a more logical level. He/she loves real problem solving so puzzles and games are great. They may also start to develop hobbies and special interest activities as they discover and develop their natural talents. It s essential that you provide good information and resources to help them with this development and often a well-chosen toy can help a lot.

At 10  11 years the child is developing the ability to reason. He/she now begins to understand abstract concepts and can come up with his/her own opinions and is happy to let you know them! Now is the time for more abstract activities. It s now that the child will start to develop into adulthood by progressively perfecting more difficult tasks. This is a good time to start their real learning about the use of computers .
